Taiyaki
Today, I’ll introduce Taiyaki. Taiyaki is a fish-shaped pancake filled with red bean paste. It is a Japanese traditional sweets. It is shaped like a snapper because snapper is popular as an auspicious fish in Japan. It has long been said that when you eat Taiyaki from the head you get smarter and when you eat Taiyaki from the tail you can run fast. In recent years, many people can eat Taiyaki as well because a Taiyaki specialty store open in overseas. In overseas, people are eating with custard cream, chocolate, bacon and ice cream instead of red bean paste in Taiyaki.
The ingredients are eggs, milk, egg yolk, granulated sugar, flour, pancake mix and sweet chocolate. This time, I made custard cream and chocolate instead of red bean paste because I don’t like red bean paste so much.
First, make a chocolate cream and custard cream. First put egg yolk and granulated sugar in the bowl and mix. When it turns white, add flour and mix. Next, warm the milk and add little by little in the bowl. Second, heat it and mix it quickly. When gloss comes out, add chocolate and mix. In the case of custard cream cool it without putting in chocolate. Next, pour it in a vat and put it in a refrigerator and cool it for 15 minutes. After 15 minutes, transfer to a bowl and mix until smooth. Next, make a Taiyaki dough. First, mix eggs and milk. Then add pancake mix and mix it. The Taiyaki dough is complete with this. Finally, spread oil to the Taiyaki mold and pour the dough into the mold. When bubbles appear on the surface of the dough, put cream. Then pour the dough from the top and bake it in the mold for about 4 minutes. When baked, it is completed by cooling the dough.
